ADRIAN STEVENSEN, Chief Executive 

Adrian is is one of the most experienced developers and operational leaders in private and government funded healthcare in the UK. His extensive expertise in the funding, development, operational management, and governance of large-scale healthcare initiatives together with his deep understanding of healthcare infrastructure and service delivery has resulted in driving innovation across public and private sectors in the UK and internationally. He has spearheaded numerous award-winning projects, established over 50 healthcare start-ups, and developed over 12% of the UK’s private hospital capacity. 
With an extensive network of connections across private healthcare, he champions new models in care and innovation in private acute care in the UK. By adapting the best of USA and Australasian design and efficiency principles, he and his team have developed modern, adaptive surgical and diagnostic centres that will be more productive and flexible to changing care pathways and clinical practice. 
 
Adrian began his career at BUPA during a period of major private hospital expansion in the UK and went on to lead Independent British Hospitals plc, developing 10 hospitals before founding the venture capital-backed Independent Care group. 
 
In 1998, he co-founded General Medical Clinics plc (GMC), growing revenues from £0.4 million to over £5 million as Managing and Sales Director. He later led a private equity-backed acquisition of Classic Hospitals, expanding the group to ten hospitals. 
 
From 2007 to 2014, Adrian developed thje Independent Care Management Consultancy practice, advising NHS Trusts and private operators on operational efficiency and profitability. In 2014, he secured over £80 million from Octopus Healthcare to launch One Healthcare Partners, introducing innovative ambulatory surgery and diagnostic centre models to the UK. 
 
As Chief Executive of Independent Care, Adrian focuses on acquiring, funding and developing new hospitals. He is widely respected across the private and NHS sectors for his strategic vision, industry expertise, and commitment to advancing healthcare delivery. 
 
LIZ HEATH, 
Research and Strategic Business Development 
 
Liz is a skilled marketing and communications professional with a wealth of experience in the independent and public healthcare sectors. At Independent Care she is responsible for market research and market planning, and supports strategic business development. She has worked at a senior level throughout the independent and public healthcare sectors for over 30 years. Having spent 13 years with General Healthcare Group, Liz was also Marketing Director for their Partnership Division – private hospitals and facilities across the UK developed and run together with the NHS. 
She has researched and written market reports for Private Healthcare UK and Laing Buisson on the UK Self-pay Market, the UK Cosmetic Surgery Market (including cosmetic dentistry), the UK Dentistry Market and NHS Private Patient Units., and has carried out consultancy assignments for Laing Buisson for leading UK and international providers.  
 
She speaks regularly at national private healthcare events on a range of topics., and has worked with a wide variety of clients including those with a national and international profile. She has an extensive network of contacts in the private and NHS sectors to assist in assessing the viability of each venture and building confidence within the Consultant Medical staff.  
 
Liz is a past Chair of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Healthcare Industry Group, past Chair of the National CIM Market Interest Group Board and an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Medicine. She was Deputy Chair and Senior Independent Director of Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust between 2009 and 2015
